After a week off, it’s time to share two weeks worth of terrific articles from other bloggers! This will be short on commentary but long on links – hope you enjoy!
Temporary jobs can be a worthwhile option in a bad economy – Don writes about them this week over at 20s Finances.
Bog of Debt wrote a post with some great, frugal date ideas. This is going to come in handy – Bruce & I came back from Vegas committed to having at least 2 date nights a month, but our budget will be tight until we pay off the $11,000 I’m committed to paying!
Daisy at Add Vodka wrote a great piece on not paying for your kids’ college education. I paid for my own education, and have been drilling into my kids since they were little that while we will help, they have to pay the bulk of it themselves.
Not personal finance related, but eemusings wrote a great post about living together before marriage, and a phrase she hates and finds demeaning to women (and men too, really). Do I find the phrase moronic? Yep. Would I ever marry someone I didn’t live with first? No way. Too many potentially ugly surprises there…
Andrea gets a double mention, because a) she bailed her ex out of a jam to shelter her kid (yes, I’ve done similar dumb things too… the kids are worth it – they will figure out he’s a flake); and b) she’s a DIY rockstar…. taking off your p-trap? Pipe snakes? Awesome!
I’m still so far behind on everyone’s blogs, but I’m slowly getting there!
Thanks for the mention, friend! I appreciate it. Only someone who has dealt with kids/custody/divorce can truly understand why I made the choice I made.
So true! The things we do for the love of our kids…
Thanks for the mention! And I really enjoyed your idea for a frugal date–I’m thinking we will try that out soon.
Dates don’t have to be expensive, but they do have to be meaningful. Time together strengthens the bond!
